What data we process
Server logs
Each time a page is requested, the hosting server records technical data: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the page you came from, and your browser and device type. We need these logs to keep the site running, find errors and block abuse such as automated attacks.

The site runs through Cloudflare, and Cloudflare Web Analytics records which pages are read, roughly from which country and on what kind of device, without cookies. We look at the figures in aggregate to decide which pages to update; we do not use them to identify individual readers.
Emails you send us
If you write to [email protected], we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you put in the message. We use this to answer you and, for a correction, to check and update the page concerned. Please do not send your phone number, BVN, ID documents or card details; we do not need them.
Comments
Comments are processed only if they are enabled on a page. In that case WordPress stores the name, email address and IP address submitted with a comment, so that it can be moderated and spam blocked.
Affiliate links and tracking
Some links on this site are affiliate links to 1win. When you click one, a tracking code tells the operator that you came from our site, so that we can be paid a commission if you register or play. The affiliate link service at play.1winbet.com.ng stores one technical click cookie for about a day, and 1win sets its own cookies once you are on 1win.ng. We do not receive your 1win account details, deposits or betting history, only aggregate reports such as the number of registrations linked to our site.
Why we use the data
- Server logs: to run and protect the site (our legitimate interest in a working, secure website).
- Analytics: to understand which pages readers use (our legitimate interest); no cookies or reader-level data are involved.
- Emails: to reply to you and act on corrections, because you asked us to.

Who receives the data

How long we keep data
Server logs are kept for the period set by our hosting provider and then deleted. Analytics data is kept only in aggregate form. Contact emails are deleted once the matter is closed, unless we need to keep a message as a record of a correction or a dispute.
Your rights under the NDPA 2023
The Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 gives you the right to:
- know whether we hold personal data about you and get a copy;
- have wrong data corrected;
- have data deleted when we no longer need it;
- restrict how we use your data;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
- receive data you gave us in a commonly used format and have it sent to another controller (portability);
- withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it.

Security
We keep the site software updated and limit who can access the site’s administration. No website can guarantee complete security, which is another reason not to send sensitive details by email.
