Data use and storage
Note your data counter, browse a few matches and one live event for ten minutes, then check how much was used. Live pages with streams or animations use far more than a pre-match list. For a native app, look at the size it takes in your phone’s storage settings after a week of use, not only at the first install.
Login security
Check that the login screen offers password recovery, that you can log out with one tap on a shared phone, and whether the site sends a code to your phone for sensitive changes. Never save your betting password in a phone that other people use.
Notifications
An app that pushes “boosted odds” alerts during every match is designed to pull you back in. Find the notification settings on day one and switch off everything except bet results, if you want those at all.

Add two selections, change the stake and remove one, checking that the potential return updates each time. A double at 1.80 and 1.70 has combined odds of 1.80 × 1.70 = 3.06, so a ₦2,000 stake should show a potential return of ₦2,000 × 3.06 = ₦6,120, stake included. Then open the deposit and withdrawal pages: are the methods you use listed, are limits shown per method, and does the withdrawal page say whether identity verification comes first? Uploading a document from the phone camera is a good test of a mobile layout.
Live prices

Limits and fake-app warning signs
Deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion should be reachable from your account settings on the phone, not buried in the Terms. As for fake versions: take the address only from the bookmaker’s own site, and be wary of any “app” offered through a chat-group link, an advert promising guaranteed odds, or a page that asks for your bank login. A bookmaker never needs your card PIN or the one-time code from your bank to show you its markets.

Worked example
On an over/under 2.5 goals market, Bookmaker A shows 1.90 for over and 1.95 for under: 1 ÷ 1.90 = 52.63% and 1 ÷ 1.95 = 51.28%, a total of 103.91%, a margin of about 3.9%. Bookmaker B shows 1.80 and 1.95: 55.56% + 51.28% = 106.84%, a margin of about 6.8%. Over is where the gap shows: ₦3,000 × 1.90 = ₦5,700 against ₦3,000 × 1.80 = ₦5,400. Over 2.5 wins with three or more goals. Margin describes how the price is built, not how much you will lose on a single bet.
